Description
SPEYE STATION
The First Object That Let People Party Safer and Speak Louder.
Background:
Every summer, Almaty becomes the beating heart of Central Asia’s music scene hosting countless night festivals filled with freedom, music, and dance. But behind the lights, there’s a dark truth: drink spiking is dangerously under-acknowledged. In Kazakhstan, most cases are never reported, and the problem remains hidden in silence. The danger comes at the most joyful moment when someone wants to dance or take a break, but has nowhere safe to leave their drink.
To address a problem no one wants to talk about, we needed more than a poster. We needed a real object one that could create safety, but also spark conversation.
Idea:
SPEYE STATION
The first-of-its-kind chilled locker system that protects your drink and your right to safety. Each station features lockable chilled compartments with personal keys, letting partygoers dance freely without fear of drink tampering. But it became something more.
Execution:
We launched Speye Station at one of Kazakhstan’s biggest music festivals in full view, in full function. At first, people used it for safety. Then, they started using it to talk. The physical object turned into a symbolic space:
- conversation starter about drink spiking.
- visual reminder of the risk.
- place where silence was replaced by shared stories.
We gathered those voices and spread them further through social media and media coverage, turning a local intervention into awareness campaign.
Results:
3000 + interactions
100+ drinks stored safely
1M+ total impressions
Conversations about drink safety increased on Instagram and TikTok during festival week.
SPEYE STATION is more than a one-time installation it’s a prototype for change. Just like wristbands or wristchecks became standard at festivals, drink safety lockers should become the new normal.
